Janet Beginners Yoga SeriesHave you looked at too many pictures of people in complicated poses and you think: “that’s not for me!”

Yoga can seem intimidating and finding the right class can be confusing. In this Beginners Series we will start from the ground up, keeping an eye on your alignment every step of the way.

You will discover how your breath can ease not only your mind, but help you deepen into your practice as well. Together we will find out how the poses can work for you personally. We will work on Pranayama (breath control) , Asana (poses), meditation and some background into the history of yoga and what it’s all about.

After taking this series you will be able to attend most of the other classes we offer. At Yoga Passion we believe every “body” is perfect for yoga.

Each scheduled class has a number indicating what level of practice each class is geared towards. All Levels is suitable for newer yogis whereas a level 1-2 or 2 to 3 class is geared towards students already knowledgeable of poses and are searching for more of a challenge. When in doubt, just ask! For people completely new to yoga, we recommend our gentle yoga classes, as well as our community classes.

We seek to provide our community with a wide array of class types and teachers. If you feel there is something we may be missing, we’d love to hear from you!

Release and Restore and (All Levels)
The shift from active to restful practice trains the brain to smooth the transition from movement to stillness in daily life. Each class will combine a balanced series of poses with a focus on opening up one of several potential areas of tightness, such as your hamstrings, hips, shoulders, or neck. A selection of restorative poses will support your body with props so the muscles, fascia and nervous system get to take a break from the daily grind.

Yoga Tune-Up (All Levels)  Give yourself the gift of mindfulness and body awareness for self-care in this class rooted in the ancient yoga teachings.Every pose will aim to support the optimal functioning of the joints, muscles, and organs while providing your body systems with a yoga “tune-up.” Classes may include both gentle movements and restorative postures, strengthening and mobilizing, as well as pranayama and meditation.

Deep Stretch & Aromatherapeutic Massage (All Levels)
This class is focused on relaxation and restoration. The instructor will use their training and skills as a massage therapist, offering targeted body work with aromatherapeutic essential oils.

Moderately Heated Power Flow (Levels Vary)
The room is heated to 80 degrees and this combined with a Vinyasa flow will warm you up inside and out. Be prepared to sweat it out in this class. You may find that your body is slightly more flexible because of the warm temperature.

Kundalini (All Levels)
Kundalini Yoga & Meditation raises consciousness through the activation of kundalini energy. This will increase your energy level as you gain an inner source of energy. Meditation can bring about a true personal transformation.

As you learn more about yourself, you’ll naturally want to discover more about the mystery of life and your connection to your own soul. Each class begins and ends with a mantra and includes breathwork, movement, a longer meditation (usually 11 minutes) and deep relaxation.

Sunday Yoga Church (Levels 1-3)
Join us for an all levels practice focusing on breath, alignment, and meditation. This class is 90 minutes.

Mind-Body Awareness (All Levels)  Somewhere between yoga and pilates lies this class!  Bring your mind directly into your body in a whole new way with breath, and movement.  Using props like blocks and balls to help create this connection you will move deeply and slowly through this class.

Yoga Conditioning(All Levels)
This class blends traditional yoga with dynamic strength training for increased cardiovascular fitness, agility, core awareness, and body confidence. Featuring resistance training and high intensity intervals, ending the class with deep releases and restorative poses. Yoga conditioning builds stamina, enhances range of motion, and improves aerobic capacity.

Gentle Yoga with Singing Bowls (All Levels)
Re-balance and restore with this gentle but steady practice to reset your mind and body. Props are utilized for support, to get grounded and melt tension. The practice is structured around healing and rejuvenating and is suitable for all levels of Yogi looking for a slower paced class. The beautiful and healing sounds of singing bowls enhance your experience.

Gentle Strength Flow (Level 1-2)
Only the gentle are ever really strong. Create strength, stability, and support for the spine and the whole body by syncing breath and movement in this flow based class. Find energy, strength, and flexibility while staying kind and gentle to yourself.

Prenatal Yoga
Tap into all of the amazing benefits of prenatal yoga throughout each stage of pregnancy. Improve body awareness to lessen common aches and pains, increase circulation, improve digestion, balance emotions, learn breath awareness and relaxation techniques, increase strength and stamina for your amazing journey into motherhood and make connections with other moms-to-be.

Vinyasa (Flow, Levels Vary)
The meaning of the Sanskrit work “vinyasa” is “to place in a special way”. Classes maintain awareness and focus on the breath while moving through a deliberate sequence of poses to achieve a flow. The sequence of postures may be different from class to class, but always follow an intelligent progression that moves from basic to complex. This style of yoga builds heat, flexibility and strength, while maintaining focus on good alignment and sound structure. Postures may be held for longer periods of time, and will flow together to unite the body to the breath and mind. Classes range from beginner to more experienced yogi.

Yin Yoga (All levels) & Restorative Yoga (All levels)
Whether you’re living with, or recovering from an injury or would simply like to slow down, center and regroup during the week these classes are for you!

Yin yoga offers long, deep releases and mostly floor poses but there may be some standing poses. We release all muscular effort to send the stress into the joints, and connective tissues.

Restorative yoga uses props to hold your body in space while using no muscular effort along with guided relaxation in each session to help students release tension, enhance range of motion, and improve flexibility.

Yoga is not about perfection; it’s about learning patience and self-care. Come share the experience of yoga as a path to natural self-healing and centering.
